The New York State Hemlock Initiative (NYSHI) is a Cornell University project that researches the Integrated Pest Management and Biological Control of hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA). NYSHI works with scientists, natural resource management professionals, and New York residents that are united in their love for hemlock trees and their dedication to hemlock conservation. NYSHI is headed by Mark Whitmore and is part of the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment in Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS).
