Dr Richard MacDonald’s work is fascinating and he is a hoot to hang out with. The conservation commission in Harrisville, Hampshire has been doing really innovative work on this. It’s chaired by Harry Wolhandler (featured briefly in this video), along with Ralph Zingaro, also on the commission. It is partially funded privately by homeowners with hemlocks on their properties they want to protect.
Shout out to Dr. Macdonald (known as “Dr McBug” online at https://www.drmcbug.com) and other researchers working on innovative strategies like this that save these trees.
